1. This photography competition is open to everyone who can take a good photo OR who can draw, paint or sketch for the 16 and under category (not attained their 17th birthday in 2024) 'Creative Calves' (category no.3).

3. All photos and drawings must be uploaded by midnight on the 13th September 2024 via this website link here
4. All entrants must provide the following details when uploading their entry: name; address; email address; phone number & herd number . All photo and drawing entries must include a caption.
5. Junior applicants (Under 18) must provide parental permission when uploading their entry.
6. All photos and drawing entries must be submitted by the photographer or artist with written permission from the photographer or artist.
7. All entrants acknowledge and consent that any photos or drawings entered in the 2024 Hereford photo competition may be used for the purposes of displaying entries. Entries will be published on https://irishhereford.com and https://www.irishherefordprime.com/ along with the respective social media channels.
8. All entrants acknowledge and consent that any photos or drawings entered in the 2024 Hereford photo competition may be used at a later stage for purposes of promoting the Hereford Breed.
9. An independent judge will shortlist the submitted entries in each category. These shortlisted entries will be available for the public to vote online from 20th September 2024 until Midnight 29th September 2024 on Irish Hereford Breed Society Facebook page and results will be announced the following day.
10. All shortlisted entries will then be put forward to compile a Hereford Calendar 2025 which will go on sale in aid of 'Childrens Health Foundation' charity - each entrant will be asked to give their permission for the inclusion of their photo or drawing in the calendar and submit a higher resolution version of same via email.
11. No canvassing will be permitted during the shortlisting process and all decisions will be final.
12. Each entrant may submit a maximum of two photos or drawings per category.
13. All entries will be judged primarily on the photo or drawing quality and not just the cattle. Although good Herefords are always a winner!
14. Closing date for entries is midnight on the 13th September 2024.

Prizes

1st and 2nd prizes will be awarded in each category to the value of (1st €250 & 2nd €150) - a choice of:

• Farm Wardrobe voucher

One prize will be awarded to the overall Winner

• Overall winning cash prize of €500

Categories for Competition

1. Herefords - The Natural Choice - Pedigree Hereford animals – all cows, heifers, bulls, calves accepted.
2. The HEX Factor – Hereford cross (Make or Female) in their natural environment.
3. Creative Calves – draw, paint or sketch a Hereford animal done by anyone 16 or under (not attained their 17th birthday in 2024)
4. Hereford and Environmentally Sustainable Beef – Best photo showing how our Hereford farmers look after the environment and make significant contributions to biodiversity.
